Canon T2i Magic Lantern overview. – DSLR Film NOOB

The Magic Lantern Wiki Page were you can find all the files and information you’ll need to install the firmware hack: magiclantern.wikia.com This video goes over a few of the main menu’s and things to look out for once you’ve installed the Magic lantern T2i firmware update. Remember this is a hack and if you make a mistake when installing it, you could damage your camera. There are still a few bugs with the software including the fact that you have to press the menu or shutter button to get some of the graphic’s to redraw. But after testing and using it for a few day’s I think I feel comfortable taking it out on a job. I’ll still bring my 7d with me (of course), but having the option to properly record audio to the camera makes life a lot easier. Also you can pick up your very own Lilliput hdmi Field monitor here: rcm.amazon.com Equipment used in this video: Canon 7d, Canon t2i Canon 16-35mm f2.8 Canon 35mm f1.4 Lilliput hdmi field monitor Zoom h1 and H4n CPM film tools brackets and mounts

  • @MRSRecordsTV The firmware actually boots from your memory card. If you don’t want it to load on your camera all you need to do is clear everything off your memory card and your back to Canon’s firmware.

  • if u install this firmware can you delete it if u dont like? an go bk to canon?

  • I need help. First of all, i´m sorry for my very poor english.
I installed ML in my t2i, and I have done a test with my VideoMic rode pro with the AGC off and noticed that makes a noise early on in the recording.
I think that is the T2i to turn off the AGC and do not know if it’s normal. Someone can help me?
When you start recording with the mic is from the early silent or make this little sound at the beginning?

  • @aerostar11 but it says on the magic lantern wiki that 24fps is not supported

  • I’ve downloaded ML 0.2.0 and noticed it’s missing some features that i’ve seen in some videos. In shoot mode i don’t have the “silent mode” shooting feature or the “scanning line” type mode, are these features I could turn on manual in the .cfg file?

  • @Legokink1 Do you mean 24 fps? I think the 550d does that right out of the box.

  • DOES IT SHOOT 24p?

  • Are they going to make a “Magic Lantern” upgrade for the 7D? and if you donwload this, will it void your warranty? or is there anyway to take it off after you have download it?

  • i have some questions about magic lantern could you help me by answering them.

  • @CINEMA35mediafilms Magic lantern lives on you memory card, just copy the files for the original over to the card and delete the current files and you should be back to normal.

  • Hey…just a question…have you guys updated to the latest release from Magic Lantern…? It has a loot of nice new features but i have a bug to say like that. All the magic lanter menus are ok but the original camera menus and stuff are mirrored. I have no clue whats happening and how to fix it…any ideeas..? Thanks a loot. Cheers.

  • @AreWeFamousNow intel i7, it is the newest cpu

  • @onelonedork o ok. wats cpu intensive? and i7 is that mac?

  • @AreWeFamousNow try a different player like AVS or VLC. Or try rendering out to mpeg2 which is less CPU intensive. Or upgrade to an i7 desktop.

  • @onelonedork playback as a redy mp4 file that can be uploaded to youtube. After rendering

  • @AreWeFamousNow in your timeline? or playback on your computer?

  • @onelonedork ok so i tried that. but when i play the video. it chokes, meaning is freezes and lags and continues normally. and happens at the same spot

  • @AreWeFamousNow I edit the files natively. So there is no transcoding. I render to mpeg2 1080p default settings.

  • @onelonedork what do you save them into (file types) And what are the settings you put in when you render? I have a 2 gig quad core running on windows 7

  • @Chris557 I’ve been using it for over a year now and it still works great, haven’t had any problems.

  • @AreWeFamousNow I edit in CS5 and don’t seem to have any problems.
